U Brands | Retail | 50 | $5M | United States | Plex Systems | Plex DemandCaster | Demand Forecasting and Planning | 2018 | n/a | In 2018 U Brands deployed Plex DemandCaster for Demand Forecasting and Planning to formalize SKU level demand planning across its retail supply chain. The implementation covered catalog management for over 600 SKUs and established a recurring monthly forecasting cadence used to drive purchase order decisions and inventory flow at the company warehouse in support of Just-In-Time arrivals. Plex DemandCaster was used as the central demand planning application to consolidate sales forecasts and inventory data for operational decision making. The deployment emphasized core Demand Forecasting and Planning capabilities, including SKU level statistical forecasting, collaborative demand planning with the sales team, inventory flow analysis, and purchase order planning and scheduling. Configuration included enforcement of monthly forecast deadlines, routine forecast updates, and order placement workflows tied to supplier timelines, and the system supported coordination of product development, QA testing, and production milestones. Plex DemandCaster was positioned to provide the operational visibility required for purchase order timing and inventory minimization. U Brands IT and DemandCaster teams integrated the company NetSuite system with Plex DemandCaster to synchronize sales forecasts, on hand inventory, and purchase order transactions. That integration enabled two way data flows used by Operations to place purchase orders to factories and to track shipping timelines, and it connected demand planning to procurement and warehouse operations. The integration spanned collaboration between Operations, Sales, IT, and Asia based suppliers to ensure timelines for production and shipments aligned with forecasted demand. Governance changes included establishing formal supply chain processes and procedures, a monthly forecast review routine with the sales organization, and hands on training for new Operations hires to ensure process adherence. Operational practices were adjusted to support Just-In-Time inventory, and the deployment supported negotiation and resolution of pricing and surcharge issues related to minimum order quantities. The project delivered a successful NetSuite to Plex DemandCaster integration and operational outcomes reported included maintaining appropriate inventory levels and reducing excess stock through tighter forecast driven ordering.

Sara Lee Frozen Bakery United States | Consumer Packaged Goods | 1700 | $450M | United States | Plex Systems | Plex DemandCaster | Demand Forecasting and Planning | 2019 | n/a | In 2019 Sara Lee Frozen Bakery implemented Plex DemandCaster for Demand Forecasting and Planning. The deployment targeted SKU level planning across five distribution centers and the Oakbrook Terrace, IL planning office, and included conversion and validation of 600+ items into Plex DemandCaster. The project was executed to support centralized demand planning and distribution forecasting workflows. Configuration focused on core demand forecasting modules, promotion and sales history driven forecast logic, SKU master consolidation, and scenario planning to support S&OP cycles. Forecasting workflows were instrumented to preserve service levels, with the implementation sustaining a 97%+ fill rate during and after data conversion. The planning team remapped forecast volumes from Tyson to Sara Lee distribution centers by analyzing 100+ customer ship to locations using cost per mile, lane rates, volumes, and fuel surcharge. The remap analysis was completed within a one month operational window and produced an explicit cost outcome of $300K in savings. Prior to go live the planning organization built an interim forecasting tool in Excel to maintain continuity, which avoided transition service agreement extension costs of $1M. Procurement negotiations associated with Plex DemandCaster achieved a 23% reduction in overall price resulting in a stated $402K cost saving. Governance and process changes included building and implementing a new S&OP process with cross functional partners, with supply chain updates and operational issues reported to executive leadership. Operational ownership centered on demand planning and distribution planning functions, with data conversion and validation activities completed by the internal planning team and validated in Plex DemandCaster.
