Stelrad Group | Manufacturing | 1300 | $378M | United Kingdom | SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | 2009 |
In 2009, Stelrad Group deployed SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its core ERP Financial system to centrally manage production across five manufacturing sites that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 installation was hosted in a central data centre in Hull, running on IBM AIX on IBM System p 520 hardware and supported by large Oracle databases, establishing a single-instance operational backbone for manufacturing and finance functions.
Celerity performed a complementary implementation of IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6 to provide enterprise-wide operational monitoring that is fully integrated with SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and the Oracle database layer. The Tivoli deployment created a single customizable workspace spanning AIX and Windows platforms, and included predictive automation scripts, out-of-hours email alerting, and monitoring rules that resolve routine SAP-related issues automatically in the majority of cases.
Operational coverage extended to IT operations and the SAP Basis team, with monitoring focused on system availability, disk and memory thresholds, and performance bottlenecks that directly affect production lines at the five sites. The combined SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and Tivoli Monitoring configuration supported capacity planning and early-warning workflows, enabling proactive intervention ahead of service-impacting events.
Governance and rollout were driven through a proof of concept with IBM followed by Celerity-led customization and implementation, formalizing alert routing and automated remediation scripts into SAP Basis and IT operations processes. As described by the customer, the implementation aimed to improve system availability and shift staff effort from daily firefighting to infrastructure improvement, while providing clearer operational visibility for capacity and performance management.
