In 2022, Miba Bearings USA implemented SAP S/4 HANA - Asset Management as part of an Enterprise Asset Management initiative. CNT Management Consulting led an enablement pre-study using a brownfield conversion approach, with the stated objectives of preparing IT teams, maximizing IT and business cooperation, and creating project momentum.
The implementation architecture emphasized a purpose-built sandbox test and training system to validate S/4HANA configurations and enable hands-on know-how transfer. Functional configuration and testing focused on core EAM capabilities, including Asset Manager mobile apps, Work Manager, Asset Manager and other EAM Fiori apps, maintenance planning, work order execution, and asset master data management. The pre-study also addressed adjacent S/4HANA topics such as asset accounting in S/4HANA FICO, and mapped cross-functional touchpoints into PPM, MM, SD and SCM to ensure process continuity.
Operational scope for the project centered on maintenance, engineering and finance teams, with Miba-specific process workshops and structured training to align business processes to S/4HANA standards. Deliverables included Miba specific documentation to support standard operating procedures, hands-on support during internal tests on the sandbox system, and a tailored training curriculum to accelerate internal adoption.
Governance and rollout planning arising from the pre-study included workshop-driven process alignment, creation of test and training artifacts, and an enablement roadmap to feed subsequent brownfield conversion phases. CNT Management Consulting provided assessment and enablement services that produced the sandbox environment, workshop outputs and documentation forming the basis for the SAP S/4 HANA - Asset Management deployment.
