In 2020 Weetabix implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as an ERP Financial deployment to replace Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, engaging Columbus to run a Microsoft Advanced Migration Assessment and a reimplementation program. The program began with a strategic envisioning phase to realign the executive team and senior management around business priorities, and to shift focus from a technical lift and shift to a value driven reimplementation.
Columbus delivered the engagement using its Value First approach, running 14 facilitated workshops with just under 80 participants drawn from senior management, the executive team, and business process owners. The workshops produced mapped business processes, a prioritized value analysis by functional grouping, and a staged roadmap that accounted for internal delivery capabilities, resource planning, and a benefits case. The project established a structured training schedule and explicit plans to improve business wide engagement and user adoption.
Technical configuration centered on configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations to reflect remapped processes and to support core ERP Financial workflows, with emphasis on financial planning, control and stakeholder value realization as determined by the value analysis. The engagement focused on process design and governance rather than bespoke integrations, and tools such as Klaxoon were used to drive interactive discovery and alignment with business process owners and managers.
Governance and rollout planning were formalized through the roadmap and benefit case workstreams, which specified governance processes, prioritisation criteria and the internal resource commitments required to deliver value. Feedback from Weetabix business process owners and managers was positive, noting improved engagement and a stronger focus on business outcomes rather than technology alone.
