DMB Technics | Manufacturing | 28 | $4M | Switzerland | SAP | SAP Business One | ERP Financial | 2006 |
In 2006, DMB Technics AG implemented SAP Business One as its ERP Financial platform to centralize end to end business processes. DMB Technics AG is a Hünenberg Switzerland based manufacturer with about 28 employees producing customer specific displays for industries across Switzerland, Germany and Austria, and the implementation was scoped to support production and wholesale operations and regulatory traceability requirements.
SAP Business One was configured to capture sales order management and CRM workflows for rapid customer inquiry response, material requirements planning and production scheduling to make each planning and production step visible, and inventory and warehouse management to preserve product history and logistic route traceability. Financial accounting and reporting modules were implemented to feed the company cockpit, providing a single source of reliable key figures for strategic decision making.
The project was delivered with implementation partner DATA UNIT and focused on cross functional coverage across engineering, production, sales, logistics and finance, starting in 2006 with three products and two customers in the system. Over time the SAP Business One deployment scaled operationally to support about 200 customers and an expanded product portfolio, while maintaining a lean configuration that allowed relatively straightforward adjustments.
Governance centered on consolidated master data and process controls to ensure traceability and auditability across production and delivery workflows, and the SAP Business One implementation has been credited internally with consistent information flow and reliable executive reporting. DMB Technics reports no data loss in 17 years, describes the system as a single system for all processes, and notes that the lean architecture has kept ongoing maintenance and adjustments manageable.

In 2021, Manifattura Ceraolo Moroni deployed SAP Business ByDesign as its ERP Financial platform. DATA UNIT AG presented and implemented the cloud based Software as a Service configuration to unify business processes across the group with headquarters in Kriens Switzerland and operational locations in Parabiago Italy, Balerna Switzerland, Romania, China, Hong Kong and India.
The SAP Business ByDesign implementation was configured to deliver core finance capabilities with group wide consolidation and standardized accounting, human resources management, supply chain and procurement functional flows, production planning, material traceability and a unified item master to harmonize nomenclature. The solution uses SAP operated cloud infrastructure and a service oriented architecture to provide SaaS delivery with centrally managed updates and legal compliance support.
DATA UNIT AG managed the rollout with an operational focus on manufacturing, finance, procurement and planning teams to create transparent supply chain visibility, capacity planning and more reliable order processing across previously fragmented locations. The deployment provided operational coverage for order processing, procurement workflows and capacity planning while enabling quicker evaluation of consolidated financial data for strategic decisions.
Governance changes centered on instituting uniform item naming, material traceability and centralized consolidation processes to enforce consistent reporting across entities. Manifattura Ceraolo Moroni expects simplified and uniform accounting processes, improved supply chain transparency, traceability of materials, a user friendly interface to aid adoption, and continuous security and update delivery from SAPs cloud operations with data protection implemented both virtually and physically.
