Technically, FLOW stores data directly in SAP and operates as an SAP integrated application, providing native SAP data persistence and reporting access. The implementation targeted operational coverage across Kumba Iron Ore sites, including the 14 km long open pit mine near Kathu and the mine near Postmasburg, enabling managers on site to access operational reporting applications to better manage staff and compare productive hours and overtime against budgeted hours.
Governance and process change centered on online approvals and automated notifications to replace paper based approvals, with training and mobile adoption emphasized for employees and managers. The system rollout produced materially improved accuracy of time records, vastly improved entries, approvals, status reporting and data retrieval, and strong employee uptake via mobile devices as reported by the deployment team.
