Jergens Industrial Supply | Manufacturing | 250 | $35M | United States | Epicor | Epicor Prophet 21 | Distribution ERP | 2015 |
In 2015, Jergens Industrial Supply implemented Epicor Prophet 21 as its Distribution ERP. The deployment was executed with MindHARBOR and focused on integrating Epicor Prophet 21 with the company’s AutoCrib vending systems and wireless IoT buttons to create a frictionless inventory replenishment channel on customer shop floors.
Epicor Prophet 21 was configured to support core distributor workflows including inventory management, order management, automated replenishment and billing as inventory is dispensed. The implementation leveraged Epicor Prophet 21 on Microsoft SQL Server and Windows platform familiarity, aligning application logic with just in time replenishment and part level tracking capabilities. JIS converted physical vending transactions into electronic triggers within Epicor Prophet 21 to enforce replenishment rules and inventory visibility.
MindHARBOR built the integration layer that translated AutoCrib vending events and JIS Express button presses into consolidated order messages for Epicor Prophet 21, capturing part numbers, quantities and customer identifiers. Operational coverage included JIS Inventory Solutions Group and customer warehouse shop floors, where button presses generate either immediate replenishment requests or end of day consolidated orders for review and confirmation. The resulting architecture centralized order orchestration in Epicor Prophet 21 while maintaining IoT endpoints on customer premises for local resupply.
Rollout followed a phased path that began with vending deployments in 2012 and moved to ERP integration in 2015, introducing governance such as unique pin provisioning, consolidated daily order review and updated purchasing and customer service workflows. The initiative restructured purchasing, customer service, fulfillment and back office contracting processes by reducing manual walk and talk steps and streamlining order entry. Jergens reports a 30% improvement in productivity following the integration of vending machines and IoT buttons with Epicor Prophet 21, with outcomes described as millions in cost savings and expanded just in time push button inventory billing to customers.
