Configuration focused on audit-compliant documentation, syntax and consistency checks as per SAP guidelines, and retention of familiar monitoring and quality assurance functions within the SAP S/4HANA Cloud environment. Integration work enabled central distribution and control of transport requests across on-premises targets and SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, preserving automated change and transport management workflows during hybrid operations. The solution supported hourly deployments and the ability to connect additional systems, with explicit plans to onboard further JAVA systems into the centralized transport process. The project was executed with REALTECH providing SmartChange Transport Management and PROFI Engineering Systems Germany participating as an implementation partner. The pilot with C&A Services contributed to SmartChange S/4HANA certification and established governance patterns for centralized transport orchestration, monitoring, and audit trails across the landscape. As stated by the customer, the outcome preserved preexisting automation benefits after the S/4HANA move, relieving SAP Basis teams, reducing overtakers and collisions, and ensuring complete, audit-proof traceability of all transport processes. C&A Services retained the ability to flexibly distribute transports to SAP HEC and on-premises targets and to connect new systems to the Transport Manager at any time.
Chemnitz Hospital Healthcare 300 $32M Germany IBM IBM AIX Operating System (OS) 2007
In 2007, Klinikum Chemnitz implemented IBM AIX as the Operating System (OS) to host its SAP Healthcare landscape. Infrastructure components include a shared SAN, mirrored availability across two physical locations in different fire sections, a HACMP cluster enabling automatic failover between two IBM Power p570 systems, and an automatic backup chain using an LTO4 tape library. Deployment and on site implementation were carried out by IBM Premier Partner PROFI Engineering Systems Germany, with Mid German Health GmbH acting as the IT service provider for Klinikum Chemnitz. The project ported the older Chemnitz system solution to the new Power Systems hardware at Mittleres Erzgebirge and validated the SAP development and quality assurance landscape onsite before switching productive workloads to the new platform. Economic efficiency and virtualization were cited as primary drivers, with reported savings of at least 20 percent in investment costs from joint operation and consolidation and an additional estimated 10 percent savings in operation and maintenance. The architecture prioritizes high availability and scalability through virtualization, SAN based data availability, HACMP failover, and routine LTO4 backups, and operators reported sub second response times and lower energy consumption.

The program followed a structured governance and procurement timeline, beginning with a feasibility study and sizing analyses in mid 2007, followed by a Europe wide tender and implementation through 2008. Systems were delivered and installed at the end of 2008, the development and QA landscape ran from mid December 2008 at the partner site, and the productive SAP instance went live March 1, 2009. The shared platform design includes mirrored system availability across two locations in separate fire sections to enhance data availability and operational continuity. Explicit outcomes stated by the project owners include cost savings of over 20 percent through joint operation and consolidation and an additional 10 percent savings in operation and maintenance.
