ANWB Professional Services 3948 $1.2B Netherlands Adobe Systems Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) eCommerce 2011
In 2011, ANWB selected Smile to develop an Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) implementation to address urgent eCommerce needs and platform support constraints. The engagement had a compressed delivery window of less than 4 months, driven by the requirement to support several thousands orders per day at peak on a catalog of several thousand products with extensive customized attributes. The Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) deployment emphasized core eCommerce modules, including catalog management configured for a rich attribute model, order management scaled for high transaction throughput, checkout and payment flow orchestration, and merchandising and product configuration capabilities to support unique customer experiences. Development included several unique innovative features requested by ANWB to provide differentiated services, features that were prioritized in the partner selection process. Architecturally the platform was integrated with ANWB’s newly developed internal ESB to enable real time exchange of order, inventory and customer data and to align the Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) storefront with backend fulfillment and IT services. Integration work focused on message orchestration and API mediation through the internal ESB, ensuring the eCommerce application could operate within ANWB’s enterprise service architecture. Governance and operational coverage were structured around a strategic eCommerce program spanning eCommerce, IT, fulfillment and customer service functions in the Netherlands, with Smile contracted to provide 24/7 application and platform support under market leading Service Level Agreements. Rapid rollout timelines and the requirement for novel functional capabilities drove tight program governance, frequent cross functional sprints and partner led support models to sustain peak trading and ongoing operations.
KAPORAL Consumer Packaged Goods 550 $115M France Front-Commerce Front-Commerce eCommerce 2020
In 2020 Kaporal implemented Front-Commerce to adopt a headless eCommerce storefront focused on modernizing its online merchandising and improving mobile engagement in France. The initiative was executed in a phased approach with agency Smile guiding the implementation. The deployment established a decoupled presentation layer using Front-Commerce as the storefront engine, separating front-end rendering from back-end commerce and catalog services to enable faster iteration and improved client-side performance. Configuration work emphasized storefront routing, product listing and detail rendering, and mobile-optimized page delivery consistent with eCommerce functional patterns. Rollout prioritized the France online storefront and staged releases to validate engagement and refine UX and merchandising workflows. The Front-Commerce storefront impacted digital commerce, merchandising and marketing operations, and produced vendor-reported outcomes including an approximately 60% drop in bounce rate, a 40% increase in page views and a 15% uplift in desktop conversion within months.
Pierre Fabre S.A Life Sciences 9600 $2.6B France Ibexa Ibexa Personalization Personalization and Product Recommendations 2020
In 2020, Pierre Fabre S.A implemented Ibexa Personalization to extend its Ibexa DXP site factory and multi-brand site deployments. The deployment targeted the Personalization and Product Recommendations category to support marketing and e-commerce across France and other markets. Implementation centered on embedding Ibexa Personalization capabilities at the module level to better understand customer behaviour and deliver tailored brand experiences across multiple brands. Configuration work aligned personalization rules with content fragments, brand templates and site factory components to enable audience segmentation and targeted content rendering. The project centralized multi-brand content in Ibexa DXP and integrated with PIM, DAM and CRM systems to unify product data, digital assets and customer signals for personalization decisioning. Operational scope included marketing and e-commerce teams across Pierre Fabre S.A markets, with personalized experiences applied at brand and customer journey touchpoints. Smile acted as the implementation partner for the rollout, supporting configuration, integration and scaling across additional sites. The case study highlights improved conversions and scale following the Ibexa Personalization deployment.
