In 2017, Abcam implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as its cloud based finance platform, aligning the program under the ERP Financial category. The deployment used Oracle Fusion Cloud components and was executed on site in Cambridge with Hitachi Systems as the system integrator, with a dedicated UAT Project Manager active from June 2017 to December 2017.
The implementation covered multiple functional workstreams, including Financials and Record to Report, Order Management and Order to Cash to Resolution, Source to Settle procurement flows, Plan to Produce and warehouse related supply chain processes, Call to Resolution for support workflows, HCM Hire to Retire, and Configure Price Quote. Oracle Cloud ERP was configured to support these modules and to enforce traceability of application design to business requirements while supervising designs and quality reviews across consultants.
Architecture and integrations emphasized cloud interfaces and middleware, with explicit connections to Service Cloud, Public Website logfile feeds, and the Warehouse Management System including cloud interfaces, and testing of Oracle middleware for non functional performance. The delivery model integrated application objects across functional consultants to ensure components met performance and quality goals and to enable cross stream data flows between finance, order management, CPQ and supply chain components.
Governance and rollout focused on program controls and rigorous testing practices, the development of a Project Controls Plan, preparation of a UAT plan and schedule, a defined triage process for UAT, management of unit and UAT testing cycles, defect tracking and closure, non functional testing of middleware, and budget and resource management. The program management team supervised three business analysts aligned to workstreams and five Hitachi technical developers assigned by Oracle module, and participated in quality reviews to ensure requirement traceability.

In 2016 Abcam implemented Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management as part of a global HCM cloud implementation addressing Absence and Leave Management for HR, payroll and talent administration. The initiative was delivered alongside Core HR, Self Service, Compensation Management, Talent Management, payroll and benefits integrations, and Taleo Recruit and On-boarding, and it covered a cross‑country rollout across seven countries.
Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management was configured to support entitlement calculations, absence types, approval workflows and employee self-service leave requests, aligning with standard Absence and Leave Management functionality. The deployment included configuration of absence policies and time off workflows, and integration touch points were explicitly implemented for payroll and benefits systems as well as recruiting and on boarding flows with Taleo Recruit and On-boarding.
Operational delivery was led by a hands on Oracle HCM Cloud Delivery Lead who managed a team of five onshore and offshore consultants, providing centralized cloud configuration and country specific localization across seven jurisdictions. Governance emphasized coordinated HR and payroll handoffs and standardized absence process workflows to operate within the cloud HCM architecture while supporting HR, payroll, compensation and talent management business functions.
