| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2023 | 2024 |
In 2023 Adidas Portugal migrated from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA as a core ERP Financial implementation, embedding the SAP S/4 HANA suite into its global SAP landscape. The initiative is anchored in the Porto TecMaia product team and aligns with the company goal of strengthening finance capabilities across a global footprint of business services, technology and analytics, digital, and supply chain management.
The deployment focused on SAP FI/CO capabilities with an explicit emphasis on continuous accounting workflows, month end closing support, currency translation and revaluation, intercompany postings, journal entry processing, asset accounting and RE-FX, and payroll processing. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support cross-functional integration points with SD and MM as part of standard financial process orchestration and to ensure accounting entries reflect upstream order to cash and procure to pay flows.
Architecturally the program was run as a product-led setup within the existing SAP landscape, using agile delivery artifacts and tooling such as Jira, Confluence and ARIS, and following a life cycle from ideation through creation to operation. The operating model places technical and business counterparts in a regular collaboration pattern, with reporting into a Product Area Tech Lead or Tech Chapter Lead, and coordination with Product Owners and Agile Experts to manage releases and continuous improvements.
Operational scope covered finance and accounting functions across the organization, explicitly touching treasury related currency processes, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting, while aligning financial master data and transactional controls with SD and MM modules. Governance shifted toward product team accountability for month end close and continuous accounting, accompanied by explicit role expectations for SAP FI/CO consultants and a focus on upskilling and internal growth as part of the rollout.
The program is described by adidas as a strategic step toward enabling a more digital finance foundation, with SAP S/4 HANA positioned to support ongoing process modernization and the company commitment to internal skills development and hybrid working practices.

| SAP | SAP HCM (HR) | SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, Adidas Portugal implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as its Core HR platform, replacing SAP HCM (HR). The initiative was executed inside a formal HR Transformation Program that integrated three defined workstreams, Integration and Migration, End to End Hiring and Retrofit, to move core personnel data and processes into the cloud.
The deployment centered on SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to centralize employee records, organizational structure, and standard Core HR processes. The program also incorporated SAP SuccessFactors Attract and Hire capabilities, with a product led approach for Talent Acquisition, and included stewardship of the Career Site and related recruitment configuration.
Integrations were coordinated through the Integration and Migration workstream, migrating master data from SAP HCM and aligning connectivity between Employee Central, the Career Site, and Qualtrics for candidate and employee feedback workflows. Operational coverage targeted HR and Talent Acquisition functions within the Porto hub, positioning SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the system of record for employee lifecycle processes.
Governance and rollout were managed through a PMO aligned model with a named point of contact for Talent Acquisition, SAP SuccessFactors release management, coordination with an external provider, and active cross-stream decision making. The Porto Hub adiBuddies Governance Model oversaw seven streams, enabling stakeholder management, milestone tracking, and risk oversight during the implementation.
