SAP SAP ERP ECC 6.0 SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP Financial Management TheValueChain 2024 2024
In 2024, ADPO Group migrated from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA as part of a broader ERP Financial initiative. ADPO is a logistics service provider operating from the Port of Antwerp and its core business process for planning truck timeslots to load and unload chemical products drove the software effort, with TheValueChain engaged to lead both the SAP S/4 HANA migration and the rapid development of a timeslot planning application. The implementation delivered a cloud native timeslot planning tool that runs within SAP S/4 HANA and uses ERP master data for validation and availability logic. TheValueChain built a web application using SAP Business Technology Platform services, specifically Business Application Studio and Work Zone, to provide a booking experience for transport firms that mirrors consumer booking workflows and to present alternatives when a slot is unavailable. The SAP S/4 HANA application is surfaced through ADPO Work Zone so clients and carriers access scheduling and status information from a single portal. Architecturally the project leveraged SAP S/4 HANA as an API native transactional backbone and SAP BTP for application development and runtime, enabling real time checks against master data and scheduling records. The deployment is cloud oriented, with Work Zone acting as the portal front end and S/4 HANA providing the authoritative data and transaction processing. Integration points are centered on direct access to S/4 HANA master data and transactional availability, using BTP services to orchestrate the web booking flows. Operational coverage includes terminal operations at the Port of Antwerp, transport firms that book timeslots, and ADPO clients in the chemical sector, shifting scheduling from manual phone and email handling to self service booking. Governance and process changes consolidated master data and scheduling ownership in SAP S/4 HANA, embedded the application in Work Zone for role based access to scheduling functions, and enabled redeployment of two full time equivalents from manual planning to higher value tasks. TheValueChain acted as the systems integrator and implementation partner for the rollout. Three months after go live the tool recorded 900 unique users and 30,000 booked timeslots, with ADPO reporting reduced waiting times, shorter truck turnaround time and a significant reduction in planning related costs. The solution also exposes KPI level data to chemical companies and provides a documented data foundation that ADPO intends to use for future AI driven analytics.
