In 2016, Affinity by Molina Healthcare (formerly Affinity Health Plan) implemented Cognizant TriZetto Facets as a Core Admin Processing System. The deployment focused on automating Health Quotes and claims processing to support Medicaid eligibility, billing and benefits administration across Affinity operations in Bronx, New York. The implementation established FACETS as the central system for membership, claims adjudication and PBM related workflows.
The project delivered configuration and testing of the Health Quotes Module, claims module and membership capabilities, with explicit work on EDI transaction handling using HIPAA 837 and NCPDP 270 and 271 code sets. Activities included HIPAA4010 to 5010 gap analysis, FACETS output generation, interface development, and migration tasks designed to ensure accurate transmission of eligibility enquiries, responses and benefits data. Functional work spanned requirements, use cases, system requirement specifications and detailed test plans tied to claims, membership and PBM functional areas.
Architecturally the implementation used Trizetto FACETS database artifacts in both SQL Server and Sybase environments, with Windows based application hosting and an EDI Gateway for external transactions. The program included testing against the NASCO Single System Claims Processing System Application to validate end to end claims flows. Database object development, query operations and coordination with IT for data migration were explicit parts of the technical scope.
Governance and delivery emphasized structured requirements elicitation and QA, engaging SMEs through JAR and JAD sessions and maintaining artifacts in Rational Enterprise Suite and RequisitePro. The team executed configuration management, requirement traceability matrices and test script review, and delivered knowledge transfer to development and QA teams. Workgroup-driven FACETS EDI standards and compliance testing were used to align configuration with HIPAA guidelines and employer group benefits policies.
Stated objectives for the Cognizant TriZetto Facets implementation included avoiding financial loss, improving billing efficiency and claims processing, and ensuring appropriate expenditure within eligible Medicaid receivers.
