In 2013 Affinity Urgent Care implemented Starlims Abbott eScreen to support BackGround Screening across its La Marque, Texas clinic operations. The deployment focused on clinical and occupational health workflows used for BATs, Non DOT and DOT physicals, on site drug testing, in house urinalysis and vital signs as part of pre employment and on the job accident processes. The project was managed from February 2013 to December 2013 under a designated project manager based at the La Marque site.
Starlims Abbott eScreen was configured to support drug screening case management, chain of custody documentation, result capture and compliance oriented reporting, with specific workflow configurations for DOT and Non DOT screening requirements. Configuration work emphasized specimen tracking, sample accessioning, and electronic result delivery consistent with BackGround Screening functional expectations. The implementation reflected category aligned capabilities rather than broader enterprise scale modules.
The implementation integrated operationally with Syna-med for patient intake and administrative registration, and relied on Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel for check in documentation, co pay and payment collection tasks and posting of incoming payments as part of everyday front desk operations. Starlims Abbott eScreen was used directly for on site drug testing workflows and to record screening outcomes that originated from point of care urinalysis and physical exam encounters. Operational scope was concentrated on the La Marque urgent care site and adjacent patient intake and occupational health functions.
Governance and process change centered on standardized data entry and chain of custody procedures, with the project manager overseeing enrollment of patients into Syna-med and the manual entry processes into Word and Excel during the rollout period.
