In 2018, Akamai implemented Oracle Cloud HCM Compensation to centralize Compensation Management across its global HR estate. The deployment was led from the HR Technology organization reporting into the VP of Back Office Applications, with program leadership that included a 20 plus member team distributed across three regions and a core HRIS delivery team of approximately six analysts and technical developers. The implementation focused on the Oracle Cloud HCM Compensation module, including HCM Data Loader HDL for bulk data reconciliations and a combined on premise and cloud compensation configuration. Functional capabilities managed through Oracle Cloud HCM Compensation included structured compensation planning and cycle management, manager and employee self service touchpoints, and annually cycled enhancements and support processes governed by the HRIT team. Integrations were explicitly built into the program, including data and payroll related interfaces with Oracle R12 components and external providers such as Fidelity, SuccessFactors, Charles Schwab, and Prudential, leveraging HDL and integration scripts to reconcile compensation data flows. The solution sat alongside Talent Acquisition and payroll systems, reflecting a unified HR application architecture that connected Taleo and other HR modules to compensation workflows. Governance followed corporate systems software development lifecycle and project management best practices, with the HR Technology team responsible for roadmap, prioritization, and ongoing support. The program included oversight of contingent workers and SOW resources for rollout and annual maintenance, and a recurring cadence for enhancements and compliance driven updates to the Oracle Cloud HCM Compensation configuration.
