SAP Legacy SAP BW (Business Warehouse) Data Warehouse Analytics and BI n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, AkzoNobel Packaging Coatings Ltd implemented SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as a Data Warehouse platform to establish a formal Sales Demand Control process. The implementation centered on using SAP BW for reporting and analysis across sales and product cost data, providing a structured repository for demand plan variance tracking at customer and product levels. SAP BW was configured to deliver reports and data analysis for product costs, sales invoice data, FIT analysis and shipments, and outputs were regularly exported to and compared with Excel spreadsheets for agenda-driven review. The Sales Demand Control capability highlighted significant variances from the Demand Plan at fine customer and product granularity, enabling analytic drill down and exception identification. Operationally the work focused on the Sales Team, with monthly scheduled review calls instituted to discuss identified variances and align on forward demand. The environment leveraged existing Prodstar, Protean and SAP experience on the team, while SAP BW served as the authoritative Data Warehouse source for the review packets and FIT analysis used in those calls. Governance changes included a repeatable monthly review cadence and an emphasis on sales owned forecast discussions, which improved forecast accuracy and empowered the Sales Team to have more focused conversations with customers about future demands. SAP BW was restated as the primary SAP BW (Business Warehouse) Data Warehouse application supporting these sales planning and analysis workflows.
