| Hexagon | Legacy | Hexagon JAVELIN MRP | Manufacturing ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2013 | 2013 |
In 2013, Al Met implemented Hexagon JAVELIN MRP as its Manufacturing ERP. The deployment began at the companys 22,000 square foot machine shop in Wales and was planned for phased rollout to the Glasgow and Rotherham plants in the Group, reflecting a staged plant-level adoption strategy. Al Met is a 42 person precision engineering manufacturer maintaining over 2,000 part records and required production control and traceability to support oil and gas workloads and diversification into nuclear supply.
Hexagon JAVELIN MRP was configured to provide core Manufacturing ERP capabilities including production control, Shop Floor Data Capture, scheduling, Works Order management, Sales Order and Purchase Order linkage, document management, and operation-level cost capture. The scheduling function was configured with colour coded visualisation to manage workload and to permit moving Works Orders between work centres and re-running schedules. Shop Floor Data Capture was implemented to collect operation-level data across 33 workstations and roughly 35 machining operation types for traceability and time collection.
The implementation operated alongside new 5-axis machining equipment and CAM programming with Edgecam, with JAVELIN providing end-to-end visibility of job routing, certification and documentation rather than direct machine control. Operational coverage included about 30 shop floor operators handling up to 500 Works Orders through the shop each month and concurrent visibility of up to 500 active Works Orders. The system organized material certificates, drawing packs and attachments under each Sales Order and Purchase Order to build an electronic data library for audit and certification.
Governance and workflow restructuring centralized job control in JAVELIN, enabling drill down from Sales Order to Works Order to subcontractor requirements and back to the originating enquiry and quotation, consolidating document archives beneath transactional records. Shop Floor Data Capture became the primary operational enforcement mechanism, replacing manual tandem processes and reducing the risk of missing certification steps by linking documentation directly to POs and SOs. The configuration emphasized quick user access so schedulers and shop floor staff could reassign work and update schedules with minimal overhead.
Explicit outcomes documented during the rollout included full traceability of high precision components supporting entry into nuclear supply chains, and a cited processing time reduction where a job that previously required four to five days was completed in under two hours. Management reported improved individual productivity and that Hexagon JAVELIN MRP contained the required functionality without bolt on modules, supporting planned expansion of 5-axis capability and future site rollouts.

In 2017, Al Met implemented Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) for Collaboration across the organization. The deployment was provisioned as a company wide collaboration platform for a 42 person manufacturing firm, with Google Workspace providing core capabilities such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Google Calendar, managed through the Google Workspace admin console.
Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) is used on Al Met's website and within day to day operations to centralize email, document collaboration, and scheduling across administrative, production support, and sales functions. Administrative controls appear to be exercised through the admin console for user provisioning and group management, and standard Collaboration workflows are applied for shared drives and document coauthoring across teams, while mobile and browser access enable distributed use across sites.
