| BILL Operations | Legacy | BILL Financial Operations Platform | AP Automation, AR Automation | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2022 | 2022 |
In 2022, Alation deployed the BILL Financial Operations Platform to centralize accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows under the AP Automation,AR Automation category. The implementation targeted AP operational activities managed from Alation's finance organization, with hands-on transactional processing observed in the Bengaluru AP team role recorded during that period.
The BILL Financial Operations Platform configuration emphasized vendor lifecycle management and invoice-to-pay automation, including vendor creation and review processes executed through Bill.com. Functional capabilities implemented included invoice processing and approval workflows, employee expense and claims approvals, scheduling of prepaid amortization journal entries, and routine credit card transaction handling, reflecting core AP Automation,AR Automation functionality.
Integrations were implemented with NetSuite and TripActions to maintain accounting continuity and expense approvals. Finance staff posted journal entries into NetSuite for AP reclassifications and credit card transactions, and TripActions was used for employee claim review and approval, while Bill.com served as the vendor onboarding and invoice processing front end. Operational coverage included month-end activities such as credit card reconciliation and AP to vendor aging reconciliation driven from the BILL Financial Operations Platform and NetSuite ledger entries.
Governance and process changes focused on strengthening vendor management controls and routed operational queries through a centralized mailbox and a dedicated Slack channel for AP issue resolution. The deployment formalized approval points for employee claims and instituted scheduled JE creation for prepaid amortization to align accounting close processes with the AP Automation,AR Automation solution.

| Navan (formerly TripActions) | Legacy | Navan Travel (ex TripActions Lemonade) | Travel Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 Alation implemented Navan Travel (ex TripActions Lemonade) as its Travel Management platform, with accounting leadership overseeing the deployment to support corporate travel and expense workflows. The implementation was led from the accounting organization and positioned Navan Travel as the central travel booking and expense capture system within Alation’s finance and AP processes.
Configuration focused on standard Travel Management capabilities including booking orchestration, expense capture and receipt imaging, policy enforcement, and multi-level approvals. The Navan Travel implementation was executed in an environment where NetSuite ERP and FloQast were also in use, and the deployment was aligned to feed expense data into finance workflows, expense accruals, and accounts payable processes common to travel and expense platforms.
Operational scope included accounting, accounts payable, and finance teams responsible for monthly close, intercompany accounting, and consolidated reporting across five subsidiaries. Governance responsibilities were retained by accounting leadership reporting to the Director of Accounting, with the accounting lead coordinating testing, user acceptance, and handoffs into month end close and audit support processes.
Explicit outcomes tied to the deployment are operational. The accounting lead who managed the Navan Travel implementation also drove initiatives that streamlined accounts payable and reduced time to close by two business days, supported the first year audit by providing prepared by client deliverables, and maintained GL and chart of accounts updates to accommodate travel expense posting and financial reporting.
