Oracle Legacy Oracle Cloud ERP ERP Financial ERP n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as its selected enterprise financial system. The decision followed an assessment of existing ERP systems to identify functional gaps and a formal procurement process, and Oracle met AGLC key business objectives and key business requirements during the RFP evaluation under the ERP Financial category. Oracle Cloud ERP was deployed using Oracle Fusion cloud-native architecture with a SaaS delivery model, configured to address core financial operations. The implementation concentrated on standard ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting, budgeting and financial reporting, aligning configuration to public sector financial controls and auditability. The rollout targeted AGLC finance and related corporate functions, centralizing financial processes and establishing common chart of accounts and transactional controls. A Principal Proposal Consultant supported Oracle in its RFP efforts to articulate solution fit and to map AGLC requirements to Oracle Cloud ERP functionality, and governance workstreams focused on standardizing workflow, approval authorities and financial reconciliation processes to align with the new system.

Microsoft Legacy Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2011 2018
In 2011, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) to consolidate enterprise reporting and analysis within its Analytics and BI environment. The deployment centered on Microsoft BI components, with SQL Server as the transactional and reporting database and SQL Server Reporting Services used for production report delivery. Mr. Ménard, as a Senior Systems Analyst, retained responsibility for maintenance and new development of the main applications at AGLC and for hands-on SSRS report development. The implementation encompassed SSRS report design and rendering, SSIS aligned ETL workflows, and SSAS-based analytical model support as part of the Microsoft BI stack, alongside SQL Server stored procedures and queries used for data extraction. Operational tasks included creating new reports, modifying existing reports, converting PowerBuilder based reports to SSRS, producing ad hoc SQL queries formatted in Excel for client reporting, and executing on-demand data fixes. The environment was Windows based, with application code developed in PowerBuilder and data held in SQL Server, and Rally Software used to track and create tasks and user requirements as user stories. Development and release governance relied on close collaboration with the Quality Assurance team to validate test plans and to create or seed test data within the testing environment, supporting report acceptance and production readiness.
