In 2014 Alberta Health Services selected and deployed Oracle E-Business Suite R12 as its ERP Financial application to replace a legacy financial system. The implementation was structured on Oracle Database 10g/11g with EBS R12 running on Oracle Application Server and WebLogic; identity and access were managed with Oracle Internet Directory and platform monitoring used OEM 10g/12c. The deployment integrated a full analytics and data-management stack—OBIEE and OBIA for reporting and analytics, DAC and Informatica for ETL/data orchestration, and Essbase with Hyperion EPM for financial planning and consolidation—while SQL Server remained in the environment for supplemental data workloads. Implementation work included Sr. DBA responsibilities for the Oracle database and the associated middleware and BI/EPM components, indicating an enterprise-wide finance and reporting rollout across Alberta Health Services.

| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle PeopleSoft HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014 Alberta Health Services implemented Oracle PeopleSoft HCM as a Core HR solution. The deployment targeted enterprise HR lifecycle processes including core HR, payroll, time and labor, benefits and talent management that align with PeopleSoft HCM capabilities, and the full application name Oracle PeopleSoft HCM is used in technical and HR governance to centralize employee records for the organization with 113000 employees.
The environment was built on PeopleSoft release 9.2 and PeopleTools versions v.8.57 v8.58 v8.59, with installation, configuration and maintenance performed using the PeopleSoft DPK and selective adoption via PeopleSoft Update Manager PUM. Configuration scope encompassed standard HCM functional modules, periodic PeopleTools and application upgrades, tax updates and selective bug fix adoption, alongside routine application administration tasks such as Tuxedo, Java, WebLogic, Cobol and web services management.
Integration and runtime architecture emphasized PeopleSoft Integration Broker and web services, and operational components including web server, process scheduler, Elastic search server, SMTP server and the Oracle database. Continuous integration and delivery of PeopleSoft services were implemented for on premise or cloud deployments using infrastructure and automation technologies cited by the organization, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, Docker, Podman, Puppet, Kafka, Kibana and Grafana with YAML driven configuration. Automation covered UNIX and Bash scripting on Linux, Client DPK automation for PeopleTools upgrades, and infrastructure as code patterns for IaaS and PaaS support.
Governance and operational controls required senior PeopleSoft technical system administration expertise, responsibility for update and upgrade workflows, and in depth debugging and troubleshooting across application and infrastructure layers. Change and release processes referenced ServiceNow PHIRE and JIRA as preferred systems, with SDLC and ITIL practices guiding testing and deployment, and validation supported by PeopleSoft Test Framework, LoadRunner and JMeter. Database and runtime performance tasks included Oracle optimizer familiarity, use of AWR and OEM, and PL SQL development for advanced triggers and administration utilities, with staffing expectations emphasizing self direction, team transparency and adherence to delivery deadlines.

| ServiceNow | Legacy | ServiceNow AI Platform | Generative AI Platforms | AI Development | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Alberta Health Services deployed the ServiceNow AI Platform to host a Self Reporting application for tracking Daily Fit for Work status for physicians, medical staff, and other healthcare workers, aligning the initiative with the Generative AI Platforms category. The deployment targeted rapid digitization of daily health status capture during the COVID-19 pandemic and was launched in under 14 days via a single portal to collect and respond to staff reports.
The ServiceNow AI Platform implementation centered on the Emergency Self Report app as the primary module, providing centralized self-reporting intake, educational guidance, and case capture workflows. Configuration emphasized rapid provisioning and lightweight user workflows on a single portal access point to simplify daily fit for work submissions and staff education while leveraging generative AI platform capabilities typical of Generative AI Platforms for automated triage and contextual guidance.
Operational coverage included tens of thousands of AHS staff across clinical and frontline functions, enabling daily status capture for physicians and other healthcare workers through the portal and Self Reporting application. The public account of the rollout focuses on portal-based intake, education workflows, and centralized case tracking rather than on named external system integrations.
Governance and process changes concentrated on centralized reporting and accelerated emergency rollout practices to support operational continuity during the health crisis, with Alberta Health Services using the ServiceNow AI Platform to coordinate responses and educate staff. The Emergency Self Report app was instrumental in enabling Alberta Health Services to monitor the health of more than thirty thousand staff as they worked to keep teams safe and serve the needs of Albertans.
