SAP Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2012 2012
In 2012 Alcon Eyecare UK implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0, an ERP Financial application, replacing Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. The deployment targeted the UK manufacturing and finance footprint of the organization, aligning core financial ledgers and administrative user management for an organization of roughly 300 employees. The implementation emphasized SAP ERP ECC 6.0 security and authorization discipline, with explicit workstreams for creation of roles, maintenance of authorization data, generation of profiles, and creation and transport of role changes across the landscape. Teams maintained SU24 entries for new transaction codes, executed role remediation and adjustments via SU25 during upgrade activities, and administered RFC users recommended by SAP. Routine housekeeping and monitoring activities included maintenance of SAP* and DDIC accounts, management of user groups, and use of AGR_USERS, AGR_TCODES, AGR_AGRS and AGR_DEFINE tables for role and assignment tracking. Integration and operational coverage extended to SAP APO for supply chain planning, where access to newly created planning books and views was added into roles in APO SCM and related authorization issues were resolved. Non-SAP tooling was part of the operational posture, with ITSM workflows such as Service-Now used for incident handling and support of daily SAP security issues, including login, password, lock and unlock cases and SNC related troubleshooting. Authorization error analysis routinely used SU53 and STAUTHTRACE. Governance focused on restricting critical authorization objects including S_TABU_NAM, S_DEVELOP, S_PROGRAM and S_PROGNAM, and enforcing role based modifications through controlled transport requests. SAP GRC 10.1 Access Control and SAP portal security controls were applied alongside SAP HR security basics and CLM related portal administration, shaping role assignment processes and access governance across finance and related administrative functions.
