Bottomline Technologies Legacy Bottomline Paymode-X AP Automation AP Automation ERP Financial Management n/a 2025 2025
In 2025 Allwyn UK deployed Bottomline Paymode-X AP Automation to digitize mid tier retail prize payouts for The National Lottery. The Bottomline Paymode-X AP Automation implementation replaced cheque issuance for prizes between £500.01 and £50,000 with an online claims and payment orchestration flow designed to accelerate settlement to winners. The implementation centers on a customer facing claims intake page integrated into Allwyn's website, supporting claimant detail capture and ticket image upload, followed by an internal review and validation workflow. Once validated, claimants receive an emailed link to enter bank details and trigger a Bottomline Paymode-X AP Automation payment workflow, which orchestrates direct to bank transfers and payment status reconciliation. Configuration emphasis included automated routing for mid tier prize approvals, secure bank detail capture, and exception handling for failed payments. Operational coverage includes retail ticket and Scratchcard prize processing across Allwyn's network of over 43,500 retail partners, and impacts finance and operations functions responsible for prize validation, payments, and reconciliation. The rollout processed more than £15 million in payouts to over 10,000 winners since launch, with the majority of prizes paid within 24 hours of successful bank detail submission and monthly mid tier payouts averaging around £2.8 million as reported. Functional integrations cited in public reporting include the National Lottery claims page, email notification flows, and Bottomline payment rails coordinated by Bottomline Paymode-X AP Automation. Governance and workflow changes removed manual cheque preparation and postal handling, shifting prize payment ownership into a digital claims validation and payment orchestration process. The change reduced administrative and postage tasks according to Allwyn, enabling operations to prioritize faster validation and automated payment execution through Bottomline Paymode-X AP Automation. The program was positioned to increase funds available for National Lottery funded Good Causes by decreasing cheque related overheads.
