In 2018 American Commercial Barge Line implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial backbone across US operations, establishing the application as a mission critical system used by employees nationwide. Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 Financials, Purchasing, Inventory and Asset Management modules were central to the deployment and are explicitly cited as the functional core supporting finance, procurement, inventory control and asset accounting processes.
The Oracle E-Business Suite Financials, Purchasing, Inventory and Asset Management modules were configured to support standard ERP workflows for general ledger, accounts payable and receivable alignment with purchasing and inventory transactions. Configuration work focused on aligning chart of accounts, procurement lifecycles and asset capitalization flows to ACL business processes while preserving integrations that feed operational data into financial ledgers.
ACL had been running EBS in a third party hosted data center on single tenant infrastructure under an expiring hosting contract, and the organization pursued a transition to the Amazon Web Services platform to gain flexibility, cost reduction and pay as you go economics. The migration strategy began with an AWS development and test environment to validate architecture and integrations before cutover, reflecting an incremental cloud adoption approach rather than an immediate production lift and shift.
Apps Associates was engaged as the implementation partner for the cloud transition because of combined expertise in Oracle E-Business Suite and AWS infrastructure. The migration was planned as a three month effort, including two passes of migration and integration testing, and the production transition completed with a four hour downtime window, described by stakeholders as a smooth cutover.

In 2006 American Commercial Barge Line implemented ADP Workforce Now for Core HR. The initiative covered an ADP Enterprise v4 implementation profile that targeted HR, Base Benefits, Autolink and Employee Self-Service for a 3,000 plus employee population across 20 states, establishing centralized Core HR records and self-service flows.
The program was executed under formal project management with a defined project plan, and workstreams for security, audit, data conversion, testing and reporting. Configuration work emphasized Core HR data models, benefits enrollment mappings and self-service authentication and access rules, and the ADP Workforce Now deployment aligned role based security with operational HR and benefits workflows.
Technical deliverables included development of complex interfaces and custom reporting using ReportSmith, and editing SQR interface functional design specifications to document data mapping and batch transfer logic. The implementation team also supported outsourcing of Open Enrollment administration and led iterative testing and issue resolution cycles for ongoing interface stabilization.
Governance and operational controls were formalized through audit and testing strategies and conversion playbooks, with testing scripts and report validation procedures used to manage rollout risk. ADP Workforce Now became the system of record for Core HR functions, with implemented components designed to support payroll adjacent HR operational processes and benefits administration.

In 2018, American Commercial Barge Line began migrating Oracle E-Business Suite - Enterprise Asset Management to the Amazon Web Services Platform, driven by flexibility, cost reduction and pay as you go economics. Oracle E-Business Suite - Enterprise Asset Management was deployed alongside EBS 12.1.3 Financials, Purchasing, Inventory and Asset Management modules, and it serves as a mission critical application used by employees across the United States.
The implementation strategy provisioned development and test environments on AWS first to validate infrastructure elasticity and operational models before cutover. ACL had been running EBS in a third party hosted data center on single tenant infrastructure, and the migration design focused on rehosting EBS application and database tiers within AWS while preserving application configuration and business process continuity.
Apps Associates was engaged for the project based on combined Oracle EBS and AWS expertise, and the project executed a three month migration plan that included two passes of migration and integration testing. Oracle E-Business Suite - Enterprise Asset Management remained integrated with several other internal applications, and the migration approach preserved those integrations through phased cutovers and thorough integration validation.
Governance and rollout emphasized staged testing, two migration passes and a concise production window, the production migration completed with a four hour transition downtime and was reported as very smooth. The deployment continued to support finance, procurement, inventory and asset management business functions under an AWS based operational model aligned to Enterprise Asset Management requirements.
