In 2014, Apotex implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits to centralize Benefits Administration across its HR landscape and align benefits workflows with broader HR and payroll functions. The SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits deployment was positioned alongside Employee Central and EC Payroll capabilities to provide a unified benefits record while preserving integrations into HR service delivery and payroll processing.
The implementation covered core HCM functional modules and benefits workflows, including Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Personnel Administration, Organization Management, Time Management, Training Management, and Employee and Manager Self Service. Configuration and retrofit work included business solution design, detailed SAP HCM and SuccessFactors configuration, and preparation of functional specifications to meet Apotex business requirements and a multi-module migration roadmap.
Integration work was explicit and robust, with IT teams designing, implementing, and maintaining HR data interfaces to external vendors such as Sunlife, Willis Towers Watson, Qualtrics, BMC Remedy, LRN, Globoforce, Skillport and American Express. The program encompassed global operational coverage with HR and IT collaboration on data conversion tasks, module integration, and HR system impact assessments to support corporate changes including mergers and acquisitions.
Governance and control measures were embedded into the rollout, led by IT techno functional leadership that defined test strategies for validated and non validated changes to ensure legal and GxP compliance. Ongoing operations included management of annual SAP HCM year end support pack activities, impact assessments, role owner coordination, and technical support for legal changes affecting payroll and tax form processing, integrating the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits solution into established HR change control and compliance processes.
