The rollout targeted complex fund accounting needs for a community foundation managing nearly 2,000 funds and approximately $1.4 billion in assets under management, replacing a prior Blackbaud FIMS environment to centralize financial processing and reporting. The Sage Intacct implementation configured core general ledger accounting, fund accounting, accounts payable, reconciliations, interfund transactions, and grant processing workflows. Clark Nuber configured Dynamic Allocations to distribute investment earnings across multiple shared investment pools and built a custom Sage Intacct Fund Fee Management utility to assess administrative fees based on average daily fund balances and donor agreements. A custom Sage Intacct dashboard and self service reporting were implemented to produce separate balance sheets and profit and loss statements per fund and to surface key community foundation metrics. Sage Intacct was integrated with Salesforce CRM to create a cloud based operating system that automates donor to grant workflows. Salesforce manages donor relationships and pushes new grants into Sage Intacct, while Sage Intacct tracks fund balances and grant payouts and exposes fund reports back to a Salesforce donor portal. The paired cloud solutions removed the need for a remote desktop environment and unified donor, grantmaking, and financial data flows. The deployment included process reconfiguration to streamline approvals and month end close activities, addressing investment allocation and fund fee calculation as systemized processes rather than spreadsheet driven tasks. Recording and routing grants was consolidated so a single entry propagates through both systems, enabling the organization to shorten the monthly close by one week and reduce manual reconciliation steps. Outcomes reported from the Sage Intacct deployment include maintaining pace with over 11 percent transaction volume growth, supporting a 6.5 percent increase in grant processing, and saving $24,600 per year in technical infrastructure costs. Sage Intacct provided real time visibility into KPIs across fund types, enabling ongoing operational analysis and workflow optimization.
