In 2018, Artemide implemented Siemens NX within its Product Lifecycle Management environment to support mechanical and architectural design workflows. The deployment targeted the Architectural Department and engineering department at Pregnana Milanese, providing core design capabilities for mechanical designers and product development teams.
Siemens NX was used for detailed 3D CAD modeling, generation of 2D manufacturing drawings, and final assembly documentation, with designers creating single component models through to full assembly layouts. Designers used Siemens NX to produce initial prototypes and iterate component geometry, and to create first-pass bills of materials that were refined collaboratively with the engineering department. Prototype production outputs were coordinated for additive manufacturing on a Fortus by Stratasys system and for part fabrication in an internal mechanical workshop.
The implementation integrated Siemens NX with TeamCenter as the PLM backbone to manage CAD data, BOM evolution, and cross-functional workflows, enabling handoffs between technical directors, mechanical designers, and engineering teams. Governance centered on iterative prototype cycles, with projects followed from study through prototyping and into manufacturing documentation, and with BOMs evolving from basic lists to engineering-controlled assemblies. Operational coverage emphasized product development and prototyping processes rather than enterprise procurement systems.
