In 2019, Balboa Capital implemented Salesforce Field Service (ex ClickSoftware) to support Field Service Management across its Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Commercial Cloud and Financial Cloud environments. The implementation was executed by Salesforce developers using Lightning, with configuration and customization aligned to sales, customer service, and help desk workflows within the organization.
The deployment included a Field Service Lightning setup for multi-level service territories that represent the regions where agents and technicians can work, and standard field service capabilities such as work order and case management, scheduling and dispatch configuration, and automation of work order lifecycles. Technical work included converting Salesforce Classic buttons to Lightning Quick Actions, building Lightning components with the Salesforce Lightning Design System and Lightning App Builder, and authoring SOQL and SOSL queries to surface related object data.
Integrations and data operations were explicit parts of the implementation, including DocuSign and Conga Composer integration with Conga template and email template management, inbound Apex REST web service classes for external calls into Salesforce, and bulk data loads of Leads, Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities using Data Loader and Import Wizard. The team also implemented Web to Lead, Web to Case and Email to Case flows to capture external requests into the CRM.
Operational governance included developer-led configuration standards and end user enablement, with developers training agents and users on newly developed functionality and embedding RPA within Salesforce to improve the performance of case management for customer service requests, help desk requests, and work orders. The implementation narrative centers on system architecture and operational coverage rather than vendor substitution, reflecting an in-house Salesforce development and administration approach.
