Banco BV implemented Tableau in 2019 to build a data culture and centralize analytics for commercial decision making. Banco BV implemented Tableau, an Analytics and BI application, to support commercial performance monitoring and self service analytics across retail, credit and collections functions, targeting more than 40 business areas and rapidly scaling user adoption.
The Tableau implementation emphasized self service BI capabilities including visual dashboards, sandbox test environments for experimentation, and a certification path for promoted dashboards. The bank moved from 73 dashboards in the initial months to almost 600 dashboards in one year and 995 dashboards after three years, with a rapid user growth milestone of 2500 users in the first half and over 3300 users in just over a year, yielding roughly 50,000 unique monthly accesses.
Deployment was aligned with BV’s Big Data discussions and the Hadoop environment, and teams used external data sets for scenario modeling during COVID, notably in collections analyses. Tableau was used to surface predictive scenarios and to inform CRM outreach decisions aimed at reducing defaults, with analytics consumed by commercial and credit workflows across multiple sites and business units.
Governance and organizational change were central to the rollout, beginning with a Data Executive Forum and formalized roles including Data Owners, Data Stewarts and Data Analysts. BV created a distributed Data Coach model, initially placing 20 analysts into business areas and maintaining a central team of data coaches, and established an analytics guild on the Teams platform alongside targeted trainings and workshops to sustain adoption and accountability.
Reported operational outcomes were explicit, Banco BV eliminated the exchange of Excel files via email for key reporting, commercial areas moved to monitor goal attainment through Tableau, and an internal study linked frequent Tableau use by sales staff to a 33% improvement in achieving commercial goals.
