| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2023 | 2023 |
In 2023 Barco began planning a migration to SAP S/4 HANA, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0, with a targeted go live in Q1 of 2025 as part of a focused ERP Financial program. The initiative is positioned to centralize core finance capabilities and standardize transactional processes across the manufacturing organization.
Barco implemented SAP S/4 HANA with explicit emphasis on finance and transactional modules, including SAP FICO alongside logistics modules MM and SD and core HR capabilities. The rollout is being architected around a clean core strategy, SAP FIORI for user experience, and SAP BTP for extensibility, while retaining ABAP and SAP Basis skills for technical support and custom extensions where required.
The program includes structured data migration and system upgrade activities from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA, and it anticipates integrations with cross functional systems such as payroll, manufacturing execution, and customer order systems to support Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, and Record to Report workflows. Operational delivery is being led by an in house SAP team based in Kortrijk, Flemish Region, Belgium, with coordination between internal IT and program management for any external engagements.
Governance is centered on fit to standard decision making, scope management, and incremental delivery using workshops and blueprint sessions to lock business requirements. Barco’s approach assigns accountability to an SAP team leader to manage timelines, resources, and long term maintainability, and emphasizes upskilling the IT team for S/4 HANA, FIORI, and BTP technologies.
The stated objective is a next generation ERP system built for the future, ensuring the SAP S/4 HANA implementation supports standardized finance operations and sustainable supportability. The project scope and hiring signals reflect a deliberate effort to ready internal teams and governance for the S/4 HANA operational era.

In 2012 Barco implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as the Compensation Management component of a broader SuccessFactors Talent Management Suite deployment worldwide. The Compensation Management rollout ran from May 2012 to December 2012 and covered up to 600 users within the scope of the global talent program.
The broader Talent Management Suite implementation at Barco included sequential module deployments, which informed the Compensation Management configuration. Performance Management was deployed earlier for 2700 users in six languages between August 2011 and January 2012, Learning was onboarded for internal users of 3700 and external users of 5000 from January 2012 to October 2012, Succession Planning was rolled out from October 2012 to May 2013, Talents Insights was implemented in January 2013 to February 2013, and Recruitment was placed on hold. SAP SuccessFactors Compensation was configured as part of these linked talent workflows, aligning pay planning and reward processes with performance calibrations and succession data.
The deployment used the SuccessFactors Talent Management Suite as the operational platform, delivering Compensation Management capabilities such as merit and bonus planning, pay matrix administration, and manager review workflows in a multilingual, global context. Operational coverage extended across Barco’s worldwide HR and people manager population, with central HR coordination and local language support for six languages. Integrations with other systems were not specified in the source notes.
Governance and rollout followed a phased, module by module schedule, sequencing performance and learning foundations before full compensation enablement to support calibrated pay decisions. Configuration focused on aligning compensation cycles with existing performance processes and succession data, and the rollout structure emphasized centralized HR oversight with local execution by HR leads and managers.

In 2022, Barco implemented SAP Analytics Cloud to modernize its front-end reporting strategy within the Analytics and BI category. The project addressed a complex SAP BW environment that collects multiple reporting modules from a wide range of SAP and non SAP data sources, and Cubis executed parallel initiatives on the back end and the front end, working with SAP Business Objects and SAP Analytics Cloud to keep reporting environments aligned with day to day and future needs.
The implementation focused on delivering SAP Analytics Cloud stories and dashboards that enable business users to build modern visualizations while preserving centralized control. Cubis configured the platform to support self service story creation alongside centralized governance, and it converted CRM reporting flows to BW 4HANA optimized flows as part of Barco s readiness for an in place conversion to BW 4HANA. Service desk reporting was migrated from manual processes into BW on HANA flows feeding SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards, providing automated operational reporting on tickets and SLA tracking.
Integrations centered on synchronizing BW repositories with SAP Business Objects front end and with non SAP sources feeding the data warehouse, including CRM source flows that were technically converted to BW 4HANA optimized designs by Cubis. The SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards are deployed across Barco s HQ screens and have been adopted by numerous business lines, extending visibility of service desk metrics and supporting enterprise decision making. Operational scope spans the central BI team and line of business users who consume and create stories, with IT managing the BW conversions.
Governance was implemented to balance business driven analytics and central oversight, with Cubis guiding platform setup, user enablement, and technical conversion work. The approach was iterative, keeping existing BW flows and progressively converting to BW 4HANA optimized flows to align with the planned in place BW 4HANA migration. Barco s Business Intelligence Lead Joost Allegaert acknowledged Cubis as a flexible and valuable partner, and explicit outcomes reported include broader business line adoption and improved, automated tracking of internal tickets and SLA performance via SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards.
