Sage Legacy Sage 500 ERP (formerly MAS 500) ERP Financial ERP n/a 2018 2018
In 2018 Barron Lighting Group implemented Sage 500 ERP (formerly MAS 500) as its ERP Financial system to centralize accounts payable, treasury, and month end close processes. The deployment focused on configuring Sage 500 ERP (formerly MAS 500) for core A/P processing, banking templates, commission check processing, sales and use tax returns, and audit preparation workflows. Configuration work centered on Accounts Payable modules and approval workflows, including creation and testing of an invoice import file for Sage 500, A/P setup to support multiple payment types, and documentation of new Concur related A/P processes. Functional capabilities implemented included invoice capture and approval orchestration, A/P transaction processing, end of month close controls, monthly commission processing, and treasury transaction posting workflows. Training and operationalization included leading and training 3 to 4 A/P staff members and briefing executive staff on process status and resource needs. Integrations were executed with Concur for invoice and expense flows, Comerica bank for Integrated Payables, and the IPW payment service which was tested and implemented to enable payments transmitted by Comerica on the companys behalf. The implementation required working with IT and Concur support to align invoice approval workflows and with accounting staff to ensure vendor and banking data within Sage 500 matched the Integrated Payables requirements. Payment channels configured and used through the system included checks, wires, ACH, credit card, and VCard. Operational scope covered daily A/P operations, treasury oversight, and office wide adoption of Concur Invoice, with the implementer handling treasury transactions subject to executive approval. Governance activity included developing and documenting Concur and IPW processes, training the entire office including executive staff, and instituting process improvements across accounts payable. Ongoing responsibilities established during the rollout included assisting with employee expense reports, monthly close tasks, and preparation for audits. Explicit outcomes documented in the engagement were the testing and implementation of the IPW payment service, establishment of all new banking templates and payment flows, delivery of staff and executive training on Concur Invoice, and development and implementation of process improvements in accounts payable. No quantitative benefits or cost figures were provided.
