In 2016 Bendigo Kangan Institute deployed Ascender PeopleStreme Core HR to centralize HR operations across its Organizational Capability unit and Human Resources department. The deployment positioned Ascender PeopleStreme Core HR as a primary system for personnel records, onboarding, performance management and HR reporting to support institutional HR business functions.
Implementation work concentrated on configuring core HR modules, including onboarding workflows for approvals and contracts, induction tracking, personnel file management, performance management coaching workflows, HR compliance case management for grievances and capability issues, and HRIS reporting and data analysis functionality. The project emphasized role-based access and data stewardship, with HR advisors accountable for data integrity and reporting configuration in Ascender PeopleStreme Core HR.
Operational coverage included close collaboration between Human Resources, Payroll and Employee Relations specialists, and the deployment ran alongside EmpowerHR as a coexisting HRIS, requiring supplier and internal stakeholder coordination for new starters, exits and staff movements. The implementation supported business processes across recruitment handoffs, induction, performance coaching and employee exit management, reflecting category-aligned workflows typical of Core HR systems.
Governance and rollout were led by the institute's Human Resources Advisor, who managed supplier relationships, delivered end user training and led the PeopleStreme and EmpowerHR roll-outs. Governance included establishing audit-ready processes, the management of independent and ASQA audits for the HR department, and embedding HRIS-driven workflows for onboarding, compliance, reporting and employee relations case handling.

In 2014 Bendigo Kangan Institute implemented Celcat Timetabler. Celcat Timetabler was provisioned as the institute's core scheduling component within its Education ERP environment and handled centralized timetable generation and distribution across academic programs.
The implementation was supported by an internal Systems and Applications DBA based at Broadmeadows, who provided back-end database and integration interfaces support for Celcat Timetabler. The environment included SQL Server 2017, 2012, 2008 and 2005 and Oracle 11g databases, with SSIS ETL packages, stored procedures and complex SQL views developed to transform and publish enrolment and rooming data into the timetabling engine.
Integrations tied Celcat Timetabler into the institute's student and identity ecosystem, including the Banner student management repository implemented on Oracle 11g with Fusion Middleware WebLogic and Oracle Forms, Active Directory for security and user provisioning, and Exchange and web services for ancillary workflows. The DBA role documented interfaces between Celcat and other campus systems that received timetable outputs, and maintained job scheduling, alerts and SSIS-driven synchronisation for over 1000 staff and 20000 students.
Operational governance focused on database administration, role and security management controlled through Active Directory, Level 2 vendor application support processes for Celcat Timetabler, and end-user documentation hosted in SharePoint. Routine tasks included backups and restores, monitoring slow queries and lock contentions, creating SSRS reports for operational visibility, and maintaining the data integration hub that supplies downstream repositories and reporting tools.
