| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2010 | 2010 |
In 2010, Bendon Group implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. The Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne deployment addressed ERP Financial requirements across the company’s shared services finance operations, aligning transaction processing across multiple legal entities.
The implementation focused on accounts receivable and address book modules, with explicit master data management for customer and supplier files and configuration of payee control functionality. Project activities documented in the program included unit testing, user documentation, end user training and super user stewardship to maintain data integrity before and after go live. The configuration approach supported maintaining separate accounts receivable ledgers for Bendon and Pleasure State until amalgamation and enabled merging multiple acquisitions into the group.
Operational integrations and transaction touchpoints were formalized through bank and payment channel administration, with administrative control over BNZ, NAB, HSBC and Bank of Ireland relationships and management of PayPal and merchant facilities for Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Diners. The system supported daily sales to payment reconciliations for 65 Australasian retail and outlet stores and reconciliations for 10 eCommerce sites globally. Cash flow workflows were used to manage accounts payable cash requirements and forecast inbound accounts receivable receipts.
Governance was driven from a shared services operating model, where the Shared Services Manager oversaw direct and indirect finance processing teams responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, eCommerce reconciliations, credit management and shop receivables across New Zealand, Australia, the UK and indirect US coverage. The rollout relied on super users to execute unit testing, lead training and enforce post go live data controls, and included operational decisions to centralize AP and AR responsibilities across regions. Implementation of payee control was explicitly used to help prevent bank account fraud and staff transitions and internal promotions were recorded as direct organizational outcomes tied to the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne rollout and ongoing governance.
