| Infor | Legacy | Infor FMS Masterpiece | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2000 | 2001 |
In 2000, Best & Less implemented Infor FMS Masterpiece. Infor FMS Masterpiece is used as an ERP Financial application to manage the retailer’s core accounting processes across Best & Less’s Australian operations.
The deployment centers on Masterpiece FMIS modules including Master Security, Common Services, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and Smartlink. Functional coverage emphasizes financial accounting workflows, ledger maintenance, accounts payable processing, fixed asset management and centralized application security and common services for transaction orchestration.
Infor FMS Masterpiece is integrated with a set of downstream operational systems that feed transactional and master data into the finance application, explicitly including JDA MMS for inventory, Preceda for payroll, JDA WDSS for point of sale, Clear Soft for import data, and EPS for rents. The integration topology is oriented around Smartlink and interfaces that consolidate POS, inventory, payroll and property expenses for accounting and reconciliation.
Operational governance is handled within the finance team, with a Systems Accountant responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting Masterpiece, and for testing all modifications and interfaces from the integrated systems. Day to day coverage includes monthly financial processing, general ledger reconciliations, maintenance of the fixed asset register, and oversight of store daily register validation prior to automation, reflecting embedded finance and sales audit processes.

| Ascender | Legacy | Ascender Preceda Payroll | Payroll | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Best & Less implemented Ascender Preceda Payroll as its primary Payroll application to manage pay processing for its Australian retail workforce. Ascender Preceda Payroll was provisioned to centralize payroll calculation and employee pay runs across store and corporate payroll administration functions.
The implementation focused on core payroll modules typical for retail payroll, including pay event calculation, award interpretation for Australian retail awards, tax withholding, superannuation processing, payroll reporting, and employee master data management. Configuration work emphasized roster to pay rules and payroll cadence to align store level rosters with pay periods.
Operationally the Ascender Preceda Payroll deployment was used alongside rostering and workforce time tools, with staff competency noted in TANDA, Preceda, and Enlighten, enabling coordinated roster capture and payroll input workflows. Store managers and payroll administrators used the system together with point of sale operations and office tools such as Excel and Outlook to manage daily payroll-related administration and exception handling.
Governance and operational workflows established store level time capture, payroll data validation, and escalation to central payroll, with store managers trained to handle rostering, payroll inputs, and compliance tasks. Operational practices referenced in this period kept payroll and workforce activities aligned with NSW government requirements and local COVID safety plans when relevant.

| EftPOS Now | Legacy | EftPOS Now | Point Of Sale | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2003 | 2003 |
In 2003, Best & Less implemented EftPOS Now as its Point Of Sale solution. The EftPOS Now deployment was scoped to support Best & Less retail stores and to tie into the company distribution centre, leveraging Australia wide broadband private networks for WAN EFTPOS connectivity.
EftPOS Now was configured to handle in-store card payments, WAN EFTPOS routing, and gift card processing, while interfacing with IBM SurePOS retail terminals and integrated CBA XPOS payment flows. Configuration work encompassed transaction routing, payment authorization workflows, and coordination with concurrent POS and ERP software updates including Win/DSS, MMS and Masterpiece.
The implementation integrated with Best & Less infrastructure components such as VMware virtualization, iSCSI and FC SAN storage, and the TM1 BI environment for reconciliation and reporting. EftPOS Now also operated within the retailer's EDI-enabled cross-dock and online shopping ecosystem, ensuring payment flows tied into order and distribution processes.
Governance and rollout were managed by Best & Less’ internal IT organisation, which defined scope, produced detailed implementation, testing and installation plans in conjunction with end users, and controlled vendor management and security policies for payment systems. Operational support relied on ITIL service desk practices and internal training across application development, help desk and infrastructure teams to sustain EftPOS Now operations.
