In 2015 Bien Dong Petroleum implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform to consolidate asset control across onshore offices, a supply base and offshore facilities. BDPOC engaged IBM Premier Business Partner Avenue Business Solutions to architect and deliver the implementation using IBM Maximo software running on an IBM System x server platform.
The implementation used IBM Maximo Asset Management to manage inventory, maintenance tasks, procurement activities and invoicing, aligning core functional workflows typical of Enterprise Asset Management. The deployment included the MaxiSun interface to link Maximo to the client Sun financial system, enabling procurement and invoicing workflows to be visible within financial processes and improving the user experience for administrators and end users.
Architecturally the solution was provisioned on five IBM System x3650 M4 servers running a Linux operating system, with three onshore servers dedicated to the Oracle Database, application system, and development and testing environments. A fourth onshore server hosted the MaxiSun integration layer developed with a business partner to synchronize Maximo and the Sun financial system, while a fifth server was configured as the offshore environment running the offshore database and application instances. Avenue Business Solutions implemented data synchronization between onshore and offshore servers and provided implementation, maintenance, Maximo training for core teams and administrators, and three months of post go live support.
Operational scope included BDPOC headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vung Tau supply base and offshore sites, with business functions impacted spanning maintenance, procurement, inventory management and finance invoicing. Reported outcomes from the engagement included full maintenance lifecycle control, optimized vendor inventory and equipment resource management, centralized procurement and enhanced budget control, together with improved data accuracy for managers and a better user experience.
