UKG Legacy UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) Absence and Leave Management HCM n/a 2011 2011
In 2011, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois implemented UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) in Absence and Leave Management. The engagement centered on establishing enterprise absence and attendance processing to support HR and payroll workflows across the organization. The UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) deployment included Attendance and Leave modules, and work on Workforce Payroll 6.3, Benefits, and Human Resources components. Configuration work covered Workforce Timekeeper setup, extensive maintenance of Kronos pay rules, pay codes, work rules, wage profiles, labor levels, schedules and shifts, and upgrades to Kronos Workforce Central including a move to WFC V5.2. Integration and operational engineering addressed authentication integrations with customer authentication systems, client side communication and Java plugin issues, database connectivity and performance tuning, and JBoss application server error resolution. The program created and modified Kronos WFC and Kronos WIM interfaces, implemented workflow notification integration with external mail systems, and proposed and implemented a balancing process to reconcile pay code and hours totals between Kronos and payfiles. Operational governance focused on application support and data stewardship, including high-volume timekeeping data review, troubleshooting installation and configuration issues, and providing customer support during user acceptance testing. The team performed routine Kronos upgrades, tested newly developed pay rules, and functioned as Kronos application consultants to support Workforce Central and associated payroll and absence processes.

Broadcom Legacy AppWorx Workload Automation Business Process Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois implemented AppWorx Workload Automation. The deployment positioned AppWorx Workload Automation as the Business Process Management engine to schedule and orchestrate backend jobs for web applications built on Oracle DB, Node.js and Angular. AppWorx Workload Automation was used to schedule third party API calls, Oracle database function and stored procedure executions, and ETL jobs implemented in Node.js using OAuth 2.0. The application-level workflows coordinated by AppWorx included file actions such as Approve, Cancel and Export, and these workflows invoked a custom logging microservice developed with Angular 11 and Node.js to capture action-level events. The implementation integrated with CI/CD and runtime infrastructure including GITLAB for version control, Jenkins for build and deployment pipelines, and Nginx serving as a reverse proxy to Azure AppService instances. Operational telemetry and alerting were routed to Splunk and Azure Application Insights with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, Terraform scripts automated Azure resource provisioning and AppService scaling, Azure Traffic Manager and WAF were configured for traffic management, and Office 365 was used to send configured alert notifications. Development and rollout followed Agile methodology with JIRA for backlog and defect management, test driven development using Cucumber and Mocha for API tests and Jasmine for unit tests, and automated API documentation via Swagger OpenAPI. Job scheduling governance was enforced through AppWorx job orchestration tied to existing authentication and API gateway controls provided by Apigee, with scheduled executions integrating directly with Oracle PL/SQL packages and Node.js services.

Palantir Technologies Legacy Palantir Foundry Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2023 2023
In 2023, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois implemented Palantir Foundry as part of an Analytics and BI stack. Palantir Foundry was instrumented to serve as a central dataset and data preparation layer feeding enterprise Power BI reporting, with scheduled dataset refresh and Apache SQL based datasets supporting reporting and analytics functions in Naperville, IL. The implementation included creation and management of Power BI app workspaces, published apps and managed dataflows that consumed datasets prepared on Palantir Foundry and other enterprise sources. Configuration covered incremental load and automated refresh strategies, Row Level Security to filter data by user account and region, and semantic models developed in Power BI to provide a unified view of organizational data. Architecturally the deployment integrated Palantir Foundry with a hybrid data ecosystem including MS SQL Server 2019, AWS Redshift UDH, Aurora DB, Google BigQuery, SharePoint, JSON files and flat files. On-premises and enterprise Power BI gateways were configured and multiple gateway migrations were executed to centralize secure connectivity. Datasets were authored on Palantir Foundry using Apache SQL and scheduled for refresh to align with Power BI dataflows and reporting schedules. Governance and operationalization emphasized documented staging area operations, BI project management rules for deployment and support, and rigorous testing using regression and source level validation. Data quality routines were implemented including pre-cooking, de-duplication, indexing and summarization to optimize performance across database services and Power BI. The Palantir Foundry integration established an enterprise Analytics and BI capability for centralized reporting, consistent semantic models and controlled access governance.
