In 2018, Bord Gais implemented SAP S/4 HANA for ERP Financial to centralize and modernize Record to Report processes across the organization. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment was executed under an accelerated schedule and completed five weeks ahead of the original planned date through close collaboration with the Systems Development team in the UK, an Offshore team, and local key business stakeholders.
The implementation concentrated on Record to Report functional workflows, with configuration work focused on general ledger controls, period close orchestration, accounts reconciliation, statutory and management financial reporting, and chart of accounts rationalization. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support finance close automation and standardized journal posting and ledger processes, aligned with ERP Financial best practices for controllable month end cycles.
Delivery architecture relied on a cross-location delivery model that paired the Systems Development team in the UK and an Offshore team with local Bord Gais business stakeholders to drive requirements validation, testing, and cutover sequencing. Governance included staged sign off by local finance process owners, coordinated cutover checkpoints, and joint ownership of data migration and validation tasks to ensure Record to Report continuity during go live.
Operational scope covered the finance organization and all Record to Report sub-processes at Bord Gais, positioning SAP S/4 HANA as the core ERP Financial system for ledger and close activities. The project narrative emphasizes accelerated delivery and multi-team coordination rather than quantified outcome metrics.

In 2011, Bord Gais implemented Affinity Marketflow with vendor AMT-SYBEX, part of Capita plc. AMT-SYBEX's Data Transfer Solution DTS, now branded Affinity Marketflow, was selected after a competitive tender because its catalogue driven approach to market data shortened the time required to implement the solution and minimised project risk.
AMT-SYBEX provided all software components and licences to meet Gas MAP requirements, including the core infrastructure components, communication adapters and the partner manager toolsets needed to enable third party suppliers. The deployment used a catalogue driven configuration model to standardise market data definitions and messaging workflows, aligning with Data Flow Management functional capabilities for mapping, validation and partner onboarding.
Affinity Marketflow functions as the Data Flow Management platform for Bord Gais, providing all gas Shippers with a standardised method to communicate market process information with Bord Gáis Networks, ensuring equal treatment for all market participants and minimising barriers to market entry. Operational coverage targeted market communications and partner enablement across Shippers and third party suppliers.
Rollout included provisioning of licences, partner enablement toolsets and communication adapters to support supplier connections, with governance focused on catalogue based data standards to reduce configuration variance. The catalogue approach shortened implementation time and minimised the risks associated with this complex market messaging project.
