Configuration emphasized core production planning and materials management workflows, inventory accounting and sales forecasting integration within SAP ERP ECC 6.0, aligning master planning to plant capacity, cycle time and inventory rules. The implementation supported creation of a master plan to meet requested customer dates, and provided production staff with centralized planning information consistent with capacity and forecasts.
Operational coverage included the Lead Materials Organization which comprised 4 direct reports and 30 team members, managing 108M in annual sales, 87 suppliers including 12 overseas suppliers, 112 sold to customers and over 200 ship to locations. Accountability in the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 environment included inventory turns, inventory accuracy, IDL labor spend, freight spend and customer on time delivery, and the system was used to produce monthly forecasts for IDL, inbound freight, inventory and sales.
Governance and workflow changes embedded in the rollout included a monthly six month risk and opportunity file presented to plant staff, an established premium freight authorization and tracking process, and participation in emergency resourcing and machining outsourcing programs during 2016 and 2017.
