| Bottomline Technologies | Legacy | Bottomline PTX Connect | AP Automation | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Bottomline Technologies deployed Bottomline PTX Connect as an AP Automation solution embedded into its Accounts Receivable invoice delivery and tracking workflows. The deployment supported an Accounts Receivable organization responsible for an AR aging of approximately $32M across multiple Bottomline legal entities and the processing of roughly $24M in cash receipts per month, using USD and CAD payment rails such as lockbox, ACH, Wire, Direct Debit, and credit card transactions.
Implementation focused on invoice delivery and tracking, electronic payment ingestion, and cash application coordination within the Accounts Receivable process. Bottomline PTX Connect was configured to manage automated invoice distribution and tracking, to orchestrate cash application inputs from lockbox and electronic payment channels, and to support delivery of monthly statements to customers.
Integrations and operational touchpoints included planning activities tied to the company ERP landscape, with explicit requirements work for a transition involving Microsoft AX and references to Microsoft Great Plains as the incumbent ERP. The AR implementation also integrated procedural controls with banking lockbox protocols, approvals and adjustments recorded through SalesForce, and credit decisioning supported by Dunn and Bradstreet, while audit interactions were maintained with Ernst and Young on a quarterly cadence.
Governance and operational rollout emphasized AR workflow controls and collections instrumentation, including approval controls in SalesForce that required supporting documentation for adjustments, a shared Excel aging tool used by collections, and close oversight of lockbox processing to enforce banking protocols. Operational ownership remained within Finance and Accounts Receivable, covering cash applications, collections, credit onboarding, and month-end reconciliations for AR and allowance accounts alongside the Bottomline PTX Connect AP Automation deployment.
