In 2019 Brighton & Hove City Council trialed Oosto AnyVision Abraxas in a time-limited public-safety city surveillance trial. The deployment used the Oosto AnyVision Abraxas application, classified in the Computer Vision category, to test facial recognition and automated identification workflows for policing and public-space monitoring.
The implementation exercised core Computer Vision capabilities typical for facial recognition deployments, including real-time face detection, watchlist matching, live video analytics and alert generation. The trial ingested live street CCTV streams and applied video analytics to evaluate identification workflows and operator alerting in situ.
Operational scope was limited to policing functions and public-space monitoring within the city, with the engagement structured as a controlled evaluation rather than a widescale rollout. Brighton & Hove City Council positioned Oosto AnyVision Abraxas as a Computer Vision tool to inform potential future use in investigative and situational awareness processes, with the trial framed as a time-bound assessment of operational fit.
