Functional capabilities implemented include handling bills of lading within Maximo, item monitoring and management, allocation of goods into containers, and structured cargo record creation workflows that replaced multiple manual spreadsheets. Operational coverage explicitly spans onboard the Sir David Attenborough vessel, BASs Cambridge HQ, and remote research stations in Antarctica, enabling centralized tracking of millions of pounds worth of goods through the IBM Maximo system. The implementation removed reliance on an Excel based cargo process and established a single system of record within the Enterprise Asset Management platform to support logistics and asset handling activities. Governance and process changes focused on making logistics workflows more intuitive and transparent, improving data accuracy across resupply operations, and embedding responsibility within Maximo Enterprise and Supply Chain Logistics teams. Project delivery referenced staged application builds aligned to BASs bespoke resupply stages and ongoing support and integration services provided by Cohesive Solutions. The Maximo cargo solution was recognized with an IBM TechXchange award for excellence in operational efficiency, with reported outcomes including a halving of cycle time for cargo record creation and the consolidation of seven spreadsheets into the Maximo cargo system. IBM Maximo now serves as the central Enterprise Asset Management application for BASs cargo and logistics operations.
