BSI Group implemented SAP S/4 HANA in 2019 to establish an ERP Financial platform supporting Regulatory services and Group IT initiatives. The implementation was executed alongside two coordinated programs, KTLO and Sure II, with KTLO comprising three discrete projects named Tiberius 2 focused on MDR and IVDR regulatory developments, the E-Reports project delivering a new e reporting platform, and the Microbiology project addressing reporting and forecasting requirements.
The SAP S/4 HANA deployment emphasized core ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, centralized financial master data, period close orchestration, and financial reporting to support regulatory billing and compliance workflows. Project scope included configuring S4HANA to accept transactional feeds from the new e reporting platform and to surface financial data for the Microbiology reporting and forecasting use case, alongside a greenfield implementation of a new workflow tool to operationalize regulatory case processing.
Governance was led from Group IT in the initiation phase, with responsibilities to define scope of work, specify critical success factors, and secure acceptance and funding for the proposed solution. The programs progressed through pilot phases with demos to obtain business approval and funding for full greenfield rollout, while Sure II focused on designing a new scalable operating model and revised operating processes to address existing drags on operating efficiency within Regulatory services.
