SAP S/4 HANA Finance was implemented as a centralised, streamlined finance solution to serve as BT Group’s digital core, standardising end to end transactional processes and financial close workflows. The implementation scope encompassed finance modules and transactional processing, procurement and workforce management capabilities, with SAP S/4 HANA positioned to deliver timely and actionable business insights across global operations.
The deployment architecture leverages the SAP Cloud Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud to provide extensible cloud services and analytics, while adjacent cloud applications were planned for integration. BT Group integrated SAP Ariba for procurement, SAP Concur for expenses, SAP Fiori UX for modernized user experience, and Opentext invoice management for invoice handling, and selected SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Fieldglass to transform learning, talent acquisition and contingent workforce management.
Rollout and governance were organized under enterprise programmes to centralize finance governance and align HR processes with organisational strategy, with implementation starting in 2019 and go lives expected from 2020 onwards.
