In 2019 Business First Bank migrated its core banking platform to Finastra Fusion Phoenix, moving from Finastra Phoenix EFE to a consolidated Core Banking backbone. The deployment was positioned to centralize core account processing for the bank headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and to replace the earlier Phoenix EFE footprint with the Finastra Fusion Phoenix application.
The implementation bundled multiple Finastra modules, including ActiveView Content Management and ActiveView Item Processing to manage document lifecycle and check/item workflows, CreditQuest for commercial credit risk management to support underwriting and portfolio monitoring, Electronic Funds Transfer for ACH-driven payment flows, and a renewed LaserPro integration for loan documentation. Finastra Fusion Phoenix was configured to automate repetitive core tasks and eliminate manual processing, with Fusion Analytics added to provide behavioral and wallet share insights.
Operationally the Finastra Fusion Phoenix deployment was implemented alongside existing LaserPro and the newly purchased ActiveView components, enabling end to end processing from document capture to item settlement and commercial credit decisioning. The architecture focused on embedding Content Management and Item Processing into core transaction flows and connecting CreditQuest risk capabilities into lending workflows, while Fusion Analytics was instrumented to surface customer behavior signals to core operations and commercial teams.
Governance and process alignment emphasized centralization of core processing and automation of routine activities to reduce manual handoffs, with Fusion Analytics informing credit and cross sell decisioning workflows. Implementation details prioritized functional configuration of the Finastra Fusion Phoenix application and its associated modules to support account processing, payments, item handling, and commercial credit, and to provide a single Core Banking platform for operational and analytic use cases.
