In 2009, Canon USA implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform to centralize accounting across 18 corporate entities in the Americas, including Canada and Latin America. The engagement advised the VP of Accounting and the CFO on Oracle Financials Release 12 with a strategic objective of establishing a one day accounting close for Canon Americas.
The implementation scope included configuration and deployment of Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Accounts Payable, Oracle Purchasing and Oracle Internet Expenses. Functional work focused on close cycle controls, accounts payable and procurement workflow standardization, and expense capture and reconciliation processes aligned to consolidated financial reporting needs.
The program worked closely with Global IT to improve business alignment and to establish processes for tracking, monitoring, resolving and communicating enhancements and system issues between IT and Accounting. As part of the Release 12 effort, the team also defined a Global Management Reporting strategy and solution to support unified reporting across the 18 companies in the Canon Americas footprint.
Governance emphasis centered on executive sponsorship from the CFO organization, coordinated business and IT change control for financial configuration, and structured issue and enhancement tracking to support rollout and ongoing operations. Canon USA s use of Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial targeted Accounting and Finance functions, while embedding cross functional workflows and management reporting across the regional corporate entities.
