In 2015 CareFusion implemented SAP Concur Expense as its centralized Expense Management platform. The engagement was scoped to deliver a single-pane view of global spend, aligning finance and procurement reporting across operating units.
SAP Concur Expense was configured to ingest and normalize T&E transactions and expense reports, and to provide consolidated spend analytics and classification capabilities typical of an Expense Management deployment. Configuration work included data normalization, mapping of chart of accounts and currency handling to ensure consistent ledger-level reporting across source systems. The implementation emphasized control workflows for expense approvals and standardized expense policy enforcement to improve cross-border consistency.
The project integrated spend data from five disparate systems into SAP Concur Expense, specifically SAP NA, SAP EUR, Concur T&E, Made to Manage and Oracle, using ETL and data consolidation processes to standardize records and feed the central platform. Data pipelines were constructed to harmonize transactional attributes and provide a unified dataset for analytics. The single platform was provisioned for use by CareFusion units across the globe, delivering consolidated visibility for regional and corporate finance teams.
A governance framework was established to manage classification rules, source mappings and ongoing data feeds, and the engagement enabled the decommissioning of Emptoris spend analytics at a record pace. The outcome was a complete spend platform built on SAP Concur Expense that centralized expense and broader spend reporting for CareFusion, with operational ownership placed in finance for ongoing stewardship.
