In 2021, CarParts.com implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. The deployment is categorized as ERP Financial and targets Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Retail functions to support the company-owned national distribution network and mobile-first e-commerce operations.
Configuration work emphasized Dynamics Finance, Dynamics Supply Chain Management, and Retail Applications modules, with architecture and design reviews to ensure a scalable modern architecture and automation. Data engineering policies and operating procedures were defined, and SDLC controls such as code reviews with merge requests, end-to-end testing, and documented training guides were established to enforce quality and maintainability. The implementation strategy prioritized native feature usage where appropriate and limited custom development for complex business requirements, guided by functional business analysts and technical design reviews.
Integrations focused on connecting core finance and supply chain capabilities to order management, warehouse operations, and the company’s e-commerce channels to preserve continuity across distribution and online sales. The Director of ERP collaborated with stakeholders to extract requirements, produce solution proposals that include scope and assumptions, and evaluate third-party complementary software options. Integration and solution proposals were designed to address operational choke points and future growth needs.
Governance is centralized under the Director of ERP role based in Torrance, CA, which establishes KPIs and SLAs, manages high-performance teams, and oversees release management and rollout planning. The role includes managing the SDLC, delivering stakeholder communication, maintaining training materials, and performing project coordination between development teams and business owners to sustain ongoing operations and adoption.

| ECi Software Solutions | Legacy | ECI Macola | Manufacturing ERP, Distribution ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, CarParts.com deployed ECI Macola as its core Manufacturing ERP,Distribution ERP to standardize inventory and MRP workflows across fulfillment and production operations. The implementation targeted warehouse inventory control and manufacturing cell record keeping, with operational activity observed at the Jacksonville, FL site where inventory reporting and night shift cycle counting were managed. ECI Macola is positioned as the primary ERP application for material requirements planning and inventory transactions in the environment.
Configuration focused on inventory control and MRP capabilities, including bill of materials handling, kit planning and picking workflows, cycle count processes, and production reporting. The team used ECI Macola to plan and pull kits in the MRP system and to record manufacturing cell integrity activities, aligning ERP transactions with shop floor and storage movements. Training and procedural configuration supported RF scanner driven put away and order research workflows used by warehouse associates.
Integrations were implemented with the warehouse management systems for cycle counts and RF scanning data capture, and operational workstreams referenced AS400 host data for inventory analysis and reconciliation activities. QuickBooks was used in parallel for parts of the inventory database maintenance, creating a need for reconciling inventory records between ECI Macola and accounting records. Logistic receiving and fulfillment teams were included in the integration scope to synchronize inbound acceptance and order staging.
Operational governance emphasized procedural change and hands on training, with inventory control team leads responsible for reporting inventory balances, conducting cycle counts, and coaching associates on inventory procedures and RF scanner use. The implementation documented workflows for recording production and inventory events in the ERP, and established MRP driven pull and kit planning as standard operating practice. ECI Macola served as the transaction system of record for inventory and MRP within the described operational footprint.
