In 2016, CELSA Group implemented SAP HCM (HR) for Core HR. The deployment addressed HR management for the company that is part of the GSW group, covering Global Special Steel Products SAU and the work centers Global Bright Bars, TYCSA PSC, B&S Trefilados Quijano and Trefilerías Quijano.
SAP HCM (HR) was configured to centralize core HR recordkeeping and employee master data, and to capture payroll-related incidents, including registration in SAP of payroll incidents, vacation days and permits. Functional capabilities implemented include personnel administration, time-related incident capture that feeds payroll collaboration workflows, and linkage to learning and competency management processes.
The Learning Management System Success Factors was used alongside SAP HCM to manage annual Training Plans and to align training activities with a competency matrix, enabling HR to track course completion and training needs. HR participated in selection of new scholarship holders through completion of agreements with the relevant university and telephone contact with students, a recruiting and onboarding touchpoint tied to employee records. The HR team also prepared documentation for Public Administration such as Social Security filings and took part in social projects, connecting compliance and external reporting to core HR processes.

Operational coverage focused on maintenance, reliability engineering and production operations at the Barcelona plant, consolidating equipment telemetry and maintenance workflows into a single asset performance view.
Governance and process changes prioritized a shift to predictive maintenance, with revised maintenance workflows and oversight by plant and maintenance management to operationalize condition based interventions. CELSA identified outcomes including improved equipment reliability and reduced unplanned shutdowns, alongside faster repairs and reduced personnel exposure to hazardous areas.
