The implementation aligned BI infrastructure with operational reporting needs across HR and finance functions for a 13,500 employee Canadian care provider.
Implementation work included setup and configuration of HR, payroll, benefits and absence data flows, creation of workflows, and extensive report development using OTBI and BI Publisher alongside Microsoft Reporting Services. Financial reporting was designed and developed using SSRS 2008 and Microsoft Reporting Services in Visual Studio 2013, with SAP Crystal 2013 applied where specified, and the engagement included writing SQL queries and stored procedures and developing Yardi reports using YSQL and Microsoft reporting services.
ETL processes were implemented to extract, transform and load data from a cloud server into an MS SQL Database, positioning Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) and the MS SQL database as the central reporting and analysis stack. Operational components also included development and maintenance of an MS Access application for Tax, Mortgage and Credit processes, and administration, configuration and development of a ServiceNow help desk system to support incident and request workflows.
Governance and deployment practices incorporated creation and institutionalization of workflows, analysis and modification of existing SQL scripts to meet business requirements, and management of code merge processes between environments. ServiceNow administration provided an operational governance layer for help desk and change request management tied to reporting and ETL work.
