In 2016 Chesapeake Regional Healthcare implemented Oracle PeopleSoft HCM as its Core HR system to centralize HR, benefits, payroll and regulatory reporting functions. The deployment was staffed with a dedicated HRIS Specialist responsible for day to day functional administration and ongoing application development across HR, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, Pay Practice Structure, ACA reporting, and Occupational Health and Wellness modules.
Oracle PeopleSoft HCM was configured to support core modules including benefits administration, compensation structures, payroll processing, absence and leave management with support for FML and disability programs, and regulatory reporting. The implementation also extended PeopleSoft capabilities to non employee workflows by leveraging Position Manager and Healthcare Source alongside PeopleSoft for recruitment and onboarding of Medical Staff, students, contractors and agency personnel to meet EPIC security requirements and compliance needs.
Integrations were a central component of the implementation, with Kronos Time and Attendance and Scheduler integrated into PeopleSoft for time capture and scheduling reconciliation. A Quick Charge ID badge based internal employee charging solution for the cafeteria and auxiliary sales was supported and integrated into payroll processes to capture special event attendance and internal sales charging.
Governance and operationalization were led from HR operations, with the HRIS Specialist developing ad hoc and scheduled queries to support audits, HR generalists, the HR vice president, finance, benefit vendors, occupational health and wellness, department heads and the executive team. The role also supported HR programs and events including open enrollment, recruiting, employee recognition, service awards, market adjustments and benefit fairs, embedding PeopleSoft into HR operational workflows across Chesapeake Regional Health.
