Rackspace Technology Legacy Rackspace Cloud Application Hosting and Computing Services IaaS n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, CICE Group deployed Rackspace Cloud through a Rackspace Technology engagement to provision Application Hosting and Computing Services that support its marine cargo handling and logistics operations. The project was framed to deliver real time cargo tracking and operational status visibility for customers while maintaining security and budget constraints, with Rackspace Cloud positioned as the primary cloud application and infrastructure delivery layer. The implementation concentrated on cloud infrastructure, cloud optimization, applications and digital experience capabilities, with explicit work to enable cargo tracking workflows, faster query and report processing, and production transaction performance. Rackspace Cloud configuration included application hosting on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and replatforming of Oracle E Business Suite application workloads to OCI, delivering measurable improvements in query times, reports and transactions as part of the application stack modernization. Operational coverage spanned CICE Group locations in Tultepec and the San Julián Logistics Park near the port area of Veracruz, and affected logistics, foreign trade operations, national transport services and IT operations. The deployment moved core applications and data from the customer data center to OCI, and integrated platform level services for monitoring, resource usage tracking and capacity elasticity across the organization’s operational sites. Governance and rollout followed an agile, staged migration model, with tasks executed according to plan to minimize disruption to day to day transactions and to maintain security and budgetary limits. Rackspace Technology provided certified specialists and managed services to coordinate the transition, which enabled CICE Group’s IT team to shift focus toward organizational strategy and future projects while Rackspace handled operational management. Explicit outcomes included an approximate 15 percent cost saving, a shift from irregular capital expenditure to a more predictable operational expenditure model, improved performance and monitoring, and reduced risk of operational disruption during the migration. Rackspace Cloud was used as the Application Hosting and Computing Services platform to centralize hosting and computing for CICE Group’s cargo tracking and logistics business functions.
